I had planned on blogging about another topic, but with the news that Steve Jobs died, I could not pass up this opportunity to post my thoughts about this man's impact in my world. He refused to say no to his visions when everyone around him did not agree. I respect any man that has the guts to go after his dream regardless of what anyone says. In my opinion, this is the person that you should have your children look up to as a role model. There are too many young people that try to emulate professional athletes, celebrities and reality television stars. They need to start attempting to emulate Steve Jobs.
It may sound crazy that I personally do not own one Apple product. However since I have two children that has not stopped me from getting my money. Yes, I do believe we are on the fourth iPod right now. Of course, when people ask what to get my teenager for a birthday or Christmas, I often say that you cannot go wrong with an iTunes card. Yeah, I am sure I am not the only parent that says those words. The point I am trying to make is that Steve Jobs created something that in some shape, form, or fashion has touched us all. He forced his competition to get better. Just think back to when the iPod first hit the market, then the iPhone, then the iPad. Prior to this everyone still had a flip phone, a walkman or mini laptop, now you can hardly even find these products, if you actually wanted to. I think the walkman is officially out of production. It is amazing that one man can affect so many lives by just not giving up on his vision.
I am going to end this post by saying thank you. Steve Jobs was an original in a world of copycats. Thank you Steve for not giving up on your vision. Thank you for giving my children someone to look up to in this world. Thank you for being a fighter in what you believe in. Thank you for leaving this world a better place just because you were in it. I know that you died at a young age but Steve, you made every year you were on this earth count. There are not many people that leave this earth that those same words can be said. So thank you Steve Jobs, thank you.
