Sandy Hook Tribute - X Factor Style

FLOTUS Open Letter To Newtown

Over the past week, we as Americans have been united in our grief as Newtown has laid to rest so many beautiful, innocent children, along with the heroic educators who worked every day to help them achieve their dreams.

As a mother of two young daughters, my heart aches for you and your families. Like so many Americans, I wish there were something — anything — I could do or say to ease your anguish.

But I know that I cannot begin to imagine the depths of your grief. I know that for many of you, the pain you are enduring right now seems unbearable; and many of you may be asking yourselves, how can we go on — as families and as a community?

But I also know that we have already begun to see the answer to that question in the countless acts of courage, kindness and love here in Newtown and across America.

Over the past week, I have been awed and inspired by Newtown's heroes: the first responders who risked their lives at a moment's notice; the educators whose devotion to their students shone brightest in one of our nation's darkest hours; the children who comforted each other despite their fear; the families coming together to support each other as they grieve.

R.I.P. Zig Ziglar (11.6.26-11.28.12)

Zig Ziglar passed from this world today after a short bout with pneumonia. Though his time on earth has ended, he is speaking with Jesus now in his heavenly home. The angels in heaven are rejoicing and his family is celebrating a life well ...
lived.

If Zig has impacted your life or you want to leave a message to the family, please leave your remarks on his FaceBook page. Don't worry about being too specific or long. Take as much space as you want...the family wants to know.

Please check back on FaceBook as we will be posting when the memorial service will be held.

R.I.P. Larry Hagman

R.I.P. Larry Hagman! I don't know about you but when I think of Dallas one of the first things I think about is the now infamous line, "Who shot J.R.?" There are not too many other characters on television that was as well known as J.R. Ewing and that is how good you were at your job. I'm not sure anyone else could have pulled that role off that well. May you rest in peace.

R.I.P. Sherman Hemsley

Rest In Peace Sherman Hemsley!

There could only be one George Jefferson and you played that character so well that its hard not to laugh just thinking about all the mess George was always in the middle of. Our childhoods would not have been the same without George, Weezy, Mr.Bently, Helen/Tom Willis and who could forget Florence!

R.I.P. Sally Ride (5/26/51 – 7/23/12)

Sally Kristen Ride (May 26, 1951 – July 23, 2012) was an American physicist and a former NASA astronaut. Ride joined NASA in 1978, and in 1983 became the first American woman to enter space. On her first mission at age 32, she was the youngest American to enter space.

On June 18, 1983, she became the first American woman in space as a crew member on Space Shuttle Challenger for STS-7. On STS-7, during which the five-person crew deployed two communications satellites and conducted pharmaceutical experiments, Ride was the first woman to use the robot arm in space and the first to use the arm to retrieve a satellite. Her second space flight was in 1984, also on board the Challenger. She spent a total of more than 343 hours in space.

Ride received numerous awards, including the National Space Society's von Braun Award, the Lindbergh Eagle, and the NCAA's Theodore Roosevelt Award. She was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame and the Ast...
ronaut Hall of Fame and was awarded the NASA Space Flight Medal twice.[5] Ride was the only person to serve on both of the panels investigating Shuttle accidents (those for the Challenger accident and the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster). Two elementary schools in the United States are named after her: Sally K. Ride Elementary School in The Woodlands, Texas, and Sally K. Ride Elementary School in Germantown, Maryland.
On December 6, 2006, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and First Lady Maria Shriver inducted Ride into the California Hall of Fame, located at the California Museum for History, Women, and the Arts. Sally Ride died on July 23, 2012, after a 17-month battle with pancreatic cancer. See More
